Bubolz, Dennis James "Bubba"
WINDSOR – Dennis James “Bubba” Bubolz, age 53, gained his wings on Friday, Feb. 10, 2017, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by family, after a 14-month battle with pancreatic cancer. Dennis was born on July 20, 1963, in Ripon. He graduated from John Edwards High School in 1981 and enlisted in the United States Air Force. While proudly serving his country for 22 years, Dennis took part in Operation Southern Watch, Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom and retired in 2003. He met his wife, Cynthia (Harteau) Bubolz of Marinette, in the military and married her in 1988. Bubba obtained his Associates Degree in Criminal Justice and Human Resource Management in 2003. He then returned to Wisconsin to work as a security guard at the Kalahari until 2004, when he started working in Madison at the Department of Homeland Security – Transportation Security Administration. Bubba was just getting settled into HR when he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in December 2015. Bubba started his journey with a bang and never stopped until the end – a classic example of living life to the fullest! Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Cynthia (Harteau) Bubolz; daughters, Linsey Reyna and Jessica (Brandon) Holtz; son, Dennis “DJ” James Bubolz Jr; grandchildren, Brayden, Joseph, Sean and Gracesyn; parents, David and Rose (Linzmeier) Bubolz; brothers, David Bubolz and Michael Bubolz; sisters, Kathleen (David) Alft, Jean (Thomas) Biel and Patricia Bubolz; mother-in-law, Marie Yvonne Smith; brother-in-law, J (Keesha) Smith; sisters-in-law, Deb Walker, Laurie Hetland and Darcey (James) Lukaszka; as well as many aunts, uncle, nieces, nephews, cousins and beloved friends.
Dennis was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ulrich and Bernice Linzmeier, Norman and Lucille Bubolz; father-in-law, Richard Smith; brother-in-law, David Walker; and several aunts, uncles and nephews.

A Funeral Service with full military honors will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017, at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 6924 Lake Road, DeForest with Chaplain Gary Reynolds officiating. A visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 17,2017, at the funeral home, and again on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 20, 2017, at Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in King, Wis.
The family would like to give a big thanks to all who joined us in Dennis’ journey. A special thanks to UW Carbone Cancer Center, along with Dr. Sam Lubner, Nurse Laura and everyone else. Thank you to Agrace Hospice for caring for Bubba during his final days. Thank you to all our dearest friends (too many to mention) for giving Bubba the love and strength he needed for this last journey.
