Even though the Canadian Forces Snowbirds will no longer be at the 2017 Rhode Island Air Show[1], more than a dozen performers will be in attendance. Pilot Randy Ball will make his first appearance at the show this weekend, with his MiG-17F.

That’s a Soviet-era jet, said Maj. Christopher Peloso. So, we’re expecting a great performance from him. He is a renowned pilot and that’s the first time he’s here in Rhode Island, so we’re really excited. This year, the military is adding two aircraft to its combined arms display, including the AH-64 Apache and the CH-47 Chinook helicopter.

It’s a great opportunity for the men and women in uniform to showcase our capabilities to the community, Peloso said.

Plenty of crowd favorites are making also a comeback, such as Jack Link’s Screamin’ Sasquatch and the Shockwave Jet Truck.

The Shockwave Jet Truck is a truck that has a jet engine mounted to it. And on a certain performance out there, they will go from zero to 350 mph in just a few seconds, Peloso said. With good weather in the forecast and more than a dozen acts, organizers are excited to open the gates.

We’ve been working really hard at this for the past year and we think it’s going to be a great weekend,” Peloso said. For more information on the air show, click here[2].
